The main types of student housing in Prague
Students in Prague usually choose between four kinds of housing, depending on budget, privacy and length of stay. Our dorm vs studio comparison goes into more detail.
- Dorm (kolej): run by universities and usually the cheapest option; rooms are often shared, and bathrooms or kitchens are frequently shared on the floor.
- Shared flat: your own room in a private flat with a shared kitchen and bathroom; utilities are often billed separately.
- Private studio: your own kitchen and bathroom and more privacy, typically at a higher rent than a room.
- Coliving: a private room or studio plus shared community spaces, for one all-inclusive price.

The house was rebuilt from the inside in 2022–2026, so you are the first to live in your studio. A laundry room, lockable storage boxes and a lift are in the house; community rooms are in preparation.
