Charles University student accommodation: start with your faculty
Rezidence Kandertova in Prague 8 – Libeň offers Charles University student accommodation from €570 a month for a place in a twin studio, all bills included. Because the university has no single campus and its faculties are spread across Prague, start with your commute: the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics (Matfyz) in Karlín is about 15–17 minutes away and most faculties in the centre about 25–35 minutes by public transport.
Choosing Charles University student accommodation when faculties are spread out
Check where you will actually be taught, not just the faculty's main address: Matfyz teaches in Karlín and Troja, Social Sciences in Opletalova and Jinonice. A direct line matters more than distance. Trams 3 and 24 from U Kříže, five minutes from the house, run without a change to Křižíkova, Florenc, Václavské náměstí, Lazarská and Karlovo náměstí; tram 24 continues to Albertov.

Shortest commutes: Matfyz in Karlín and Troja
The Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Sokolovská 83 is the nearest: tram 3 or 24 goes direct to Křižíkova in 8 minutes. The Troja campus takes about 20–25 minutes by tram and bus, or roughly 8–12 minutes by bike (an estimate). If your timetable is split between the two buildings, Libeň is close to both.
The Kandertova option in brief
52 brand-new studios after a full 2022–2026 reconstruction, each with its own kitchenette and bathroom. A twin place costs €570 per person, a single studio €980 (the larger Type 02: €670 / €1,090). Water, heating, electricity, waste and 2 Gb/s fibre are included, with no year-end settlement.
Coming to Charles University for a full degree
You can book from abroad without a viewing. Once you have signed the lease – after the €200 reservation, the first part of your €1,000 deposit – we issue a free accommodation letter in Czech and English within 5 working days. At handover we register you with the foreign police; our team speaks English.
Booking before your admission results
You can book before your admission letter arrives, but please weigh it up: if Charles University does not admit you or your visa is refused, the €200 reservation is not refunded. The only case of a full refund is if we cannot provide the accommodation because the occupancy permit for the building has not been issued. A delayed visa lets you move your start date once for free, by up to 2 months.

Can students from different faculties share a twin studio?
Yes. Book together with a friend, whatever you study. If we match you, we look for the same gender by default, a similar age and where possible a similar programme.
Do I need proof that I study at Charles University?
Not when you apply – the application is free and only asks for your passport or ID number and a photo of it. You upload proof of study or work and liability insurance 14 days before move-in.
My seminars are in Jinonice – does Libeň still work?
It is one of the longer trips, about 40–45 minutes via metro B. If most of your teaching is at Opletalova, it is about 25–30 minutes.
