Student housing for AMU and UMPRUM art students: why Type 02
Type 01 is 20 m² with a 12.8 m² living room and kitchenette. Type 02 is 27.5 m²: a 3.0 m² hall, a 2.8 m² bathroom and a 19.8 m² living room with kitchenette – seven square metres more for an easel, a keyboard stand, a cutting mat or a second screen for editing. There are only five Type 02 studios in the house, one per floor.
Built-in wardrobes keep clothes out of the working area, and motorised external blinds shade the studio at the touch of a switch, remote or phone. Want to practise an instrument at home? We have not published rules on music practice, so ask us before you apply.

Storage for portfolios and equipment
The house has a storage room with private lockable boxes – meant for suitcases, skis and everything you don't need every day, and just as useful for a portfolio case, a tripod or finished work between semesters. If you need to store something large, ask us about the box size first.
A laundry room with washers and dryers is in the house, and a new lift goes to every floor – handy when you carry canvases, a lighting kit or a box of materials home.
Fibre internet for heavy files
Every studio has fibre internet up to 2 Gb/s, included in the price. Sending a cut for review, syncing a design project to the cloud or uploading a portfolio for an application does not have to wait for the school network. A workspace with quiet desks is in preparation in the house.
The river, the park and Karlín
Walk down through Pod Korábem park and you reach the Vltava embankment in about seven minutes. Karlín, with its cafés, restaurants and riverside, is about 15 minutes by public transport, or a 22-minute walk to Maniny park on its edge. Thomayerovy sady park is 13 minutes on foot – a good loop after a long day in the studio.

Frequently asked questions
Can I practise an instrument in the studio?
Ask us. We have not published house rules on music practice, so tell us what you play and how often before you apply. The acoustic triple glazing (39 dB) is about keeping outside noise out – it is not a promise for practising.
Is there space for large artworks?
The Type 02 living room with kitchenette has 19.8 m² (Type 01: 12.8 m²). For things you don't need daily there is a storage room with private lockable boxes – ask us about their size.
My degree takes several years. Can I extend?
Yes. Contracts start at 6 months, in the application you choose 6–12 months, and the contract can be extended. Longer stays are welcome.
Is Type 02 available as a single or a twin?
Both: a single costs €1,090 a month, a twin place €670 per person. Twin studios are currently offered on the 2nd floor, singles on the 5th.
