Getting to Kateřinská and Karlovo náměstí

The First Faculty of Medicine is centred on Kateřinská street and Karlovo náměstí in Prague 2. From Kandertova, take tram 3 or 24 from U Kříže to Florenc, metro C to I. P. Pavlova and walk about four minutes – or ride the same trams straight to Karlovo náměstí with no change. Either way it is about 27–30 minutes door to door on a normal weekday.

The direct tram also serves the ČVUT building on Charles Square (about 25–30 minutes), handy for a twin flatmate from ČVUT. By bike the trip is estimated at about 25–30 minutes.

Moving every year costs time you would rather spend on anatomy. Contracts at Kandertova start at 6 months and can be extended, so you can settle in one place. You will also be the first person to live in your studio: the building went through a complete reconstruction in 2022–2026 – new wiring, plumbing, bathrooms, kitchens, windows, floors, doors and lift.

Rent is one fixed monthly price in euro covering water, heating, electricity, waste and fibre internet up to 2 Gb/s – no year-end settlement, no utility contracts, no admin fees.

Exam season without shared corridors

Anatomy, biochemistry, physiology – the big exams come in blocks, and then you need quiet, routine and no queue for the shower. Every studio has its own bathroom with a rain shower, a kitchenette with hob and fridge, and a desk and chair for each resident. Triple glazing and external aluminium blinds keep noise and summer heat out.

In a single studio nobody else's timetable affects yours: study late, sleep before an early practical, cook when it suits you. The laundry room with washers and dryers in the house takes care of lab coats.

For international medics and their parents

Many students in the English-taught programme arrange housing from abroad, often with their parents. Apply online in about 3 minutes with your passport or ID number and a photo of it, sign a short reservation agreement and pay a €200 reservation by bank transfer within 5 days – the first part of the €1,000 deposit, not a fee; within 1 working day of payment we reserve a specific studio and you sign the lease online with a code from your e-mail.

Single studio or the larger Type 02?

The standard single studio (Type 01) has 20 m² with a 12.8 m² living room and kitchenette, for €980 (23 900 Kč) a month. If you want room for a second chair, a bigger study corner and a shelf of anatomy atlases, Type 02 has 27.5 m² with a 19.8 m² living room for €1,090 (26 600 Kč). There are only five Type 02 studios, one per floor, so ask about availability early.

Prefer to share costs? A twin place with a classmate starts at €570 per person – but in exam blocks, a studio of your own gives you full control over your day.
