Student housing near Charles University Faculty of Education – one direct tram

Student housing near Charles University Faculty of Education does not have to be in the centre: from Rezidence Kandertova in Prague 8 – Libeň, trams 3 and 24 run direct to Lazarská and the faculty on M. D. Rettigové is about 25–28 minutes door to door. A place in a brand-new twin studio costs €570 (13 900 Kč) a month with every bill included, so future teachers from outside Prague can plan the whole semester around one number.

Getting to M. D. Rettigové from Libeň

The Faculty of Education sits a few steps from Národní třída, and from Kandertova you reach it without a single change: walk five minutes to the U Kříže stop, ride tram 3 or 24 to Lazarská (about 21 minutes on board) and walk two minutes. That is about 25–28 minutes door to door in the official PID journey planner, without the wait at the stop.

If the trams are disrupted, there is a second route: tram to Palmovka, metro B to Národní třída and one minute on foot. By bike, allow roughly 25 minutes – our estimate, not a timed ride.

Teaching practice in schools around Prague

Teacher training includes placements in schools, and those schools are rarely next to the faculty. A tram stop five minutes away and metro B at Palmovka, about 11 minutes by tram, make early starts across the city easier.

The PORG grammar and primary school is a four-minute walk from the house – a local landmark only; your placement is arranged by your faculty.

Dorm or private room? A twin studio with a coursemate

Students from the regions usually weigh a dorm against a room in a shared flat. Dorm rooms are typically shared, with bathrooms or kitchens often shared along the floor; in a shared flat, bills tend to be split and settled afterwards. A twin studio is a third option: you share one 20 m² studio with a classmate or a matched flatmate, but the kitchenette and bathroom belong to the two of you alone.

Each resident has a bed with mattress, a desk and a chair for lesson plans and seminar papers. If we match you with a flatmate, it is someone of the same gender by default, of a similar age and, where possible, on a similar programme.

Weekend trips home

Heading home on Friday? The Praha-Libeň U Kříže train stop is three minutes from the door – check whether your regional line calls there. Long-distance trains leave from Hlavní nádraží, about 20–23 minutes away (tram to Florenc, then one stop on metro C), and Florenc bus station is about 18–20 minutes by direct tram.

Suitcases and things you don't need every week fit in a private lockable box in the storage room.

Six months, starting on the 1st or 15th of a month. You choose 6–12 months when applying and can extend later; we do not offer short-term stays.

Can a coursemate and I live together?
