Who it is for

Accommodation for Slovak and out-of-town Czech students in Prague: your first place away from home

Rezidence Kandertova offers accommodation for Slovak and out-of-town Czech students in Prague that sits between a dorm and a flat of your own: a brand-new furnished studio with its own kitchen and bathroom, shared with a friend from home for €570 (13 900 Kč) a month each, all bills included. The Praha-Libeň U Kříže train stop is 3 minutes on foot, and the main railway station about 20–23 minutes away.

Dorm, shared flat or your own studio?

First-years moving to Prague usually weigh up three options. A university dorm tends to cost less, but rooms are usually shared and bathrooms and kitchens are often shared on the floor. A room in a shared flat gives you your own door, but you share the kitchen and bathroom with several people and often split energy and internet bills. Your own studio gives you privacy, but on the open market it usually costs more and you arrange the utility contracts yourself.

Where Kandertova fits for Slovak and out-of-town Czech students

A twin studio is the middle way: you share one studio with one person you choose – a friend from secondary school or someone from your home town – and the kitchenette and bathroom are for the two of you only, not the whole floor. If you come on your own, we match you with another resident: same gender by default, similar age and, where possible, a similar programme.

There is no utility admin: water, heating, electricity, waste and fibre internet up to 2 Gb/s are in the price, with no year-end settlement. Everything in the building is new after the 2022–2026 reconstruction, and there is a laundry room with washers and dryers in the house.

Going home at weekends

The Praha-Libeň U Kříže train stop is 154 m from the door, about 3 minutes on foot. For longer journeys, Prague main railway station is about 20–23 minutes away (tram 3 or 24 to Florenc, then metro C one stop) and Florenc bus station about 18–20 minutes by direct tram. Whichever train or coach takes you home, you reach both stations without crossing the whole city. Between trips, your suitcase can wait in a lockable box in the storage room.

What to bring from home

Each of you gets a bed with mattress, a desk and a chair; the studio has built-in wardrobes, a fitted kitchen with hob, fridge, sink and extractor hood, and a private bathroom. Bring bedding and your personal things. Cookware, crockery and towels are not on the furnishing list, so plan to bring them or ask us.

Frequently asked questions

Can I live with my friend from secondary school?

Yes – that is what the twin studio is for. Say in your application that you are applying together and we keep you in the same studio.

Do I need a guarantor or my parents' signature?

A guarantor is not part of the booking steps we publish. If you are unsure what applies in your case, ask us before you apply.

When do I need proof of study?

Fourteen days before move-in; to apply you only need your passport or ID card number and a photo of it. Please note that not being admitted to university is not a reason for a refund – the €200 reservation is kept.

Can I move in for the start of the academic year?

Not for October 2026: move-in is tentatively planned from 1 December 2026, with the exact date confirmed after the occupancy permit. Contracts start on the 1st or 15th of a month and run for at least 6 months.

Apply together with a friend from home

The application takes about 3 minutes and is free. Tell us who you are applying with, and after your €200 reservation we reserve a twin studio for both of you.
