Rezidence Kandertova offers accommodation for PhD students and visiting researchers in Prague: brand-new private studios in Prague 8 – Libeň for stays of six months or longer. Each studio has its own desk, kitchenette, bathroom and fibre internet up to 2 Gb/s; a single Type 01 studio costs €980 and the larger Type 02 €1,090 a month, all bills included.
A room to think: Type 02 or a single Type 01
Type 02 is the larger layout: 27.5 m² in total, with a 19.8 m² living room and kitchenette, a 3.0 m² hall and a 2.8 m² bathroom. There are only five Type 02 studios, one per floor, so ask early which one is free.
If budget matters more than space, a single Type 01 studio gives you 20 m² to yourself, with a 12.8 m² living room and kitchenette. Both come furnished: bed and mattress, desk and chair, built-in wardrobes and a fitted kitchen with hob, fridge and sink.

Working from home: fibre, quiet and shade
Fibre internet up to 2 Gb/s is included in the rent – enough for remote work on a computing cluster, large datasets and video calls across time zones. Insulating triple glazing with 39 dB sound insulation keeps street noise down, and motorised external aluminium blinds keep summer heat out or darken the room for a presentation.
A shared 20 m² workspace is in preparation, along with a lounge and a yoga studio; until they open, your own desk is your office. A laundry room and a lift take care of the routine.

Getting to MFF Troja, Albertov and Dejvice
The house is a five-minute walk from the U Kříže stop, served by trams 3 and 24. The MFF campus in Troja is in the same district, Albertov is a direct ride on tram 24, and the Dejvice campuses of ČVUT and VŠCHT need one change to bus 145. Times below are approximate, door to door on a weekday.
If your group also works in the MFF building in Karlín (Sokolovská 83), it is about 15–17 minutes away by direct tram to Křižíkova.
Accommodation for PhD students and researchers on fixed-term stays
Contracts start at six months and can be extended – a good fit for a grant period or a visiting fellowship. They always begin on the 1st or 15th of a month; if you start on the 15th, you pay rent only until the end of that month.
Booking is online: a three-minute application, a short reservation agreement and a €200 reservation by bank transfer within 5 days, which counts towards the €1,000 deposit, then a specific studio within one working day of payment and the lease signed online. At handover we register you with the foreign police.
For universities and institutes: several studios, one contract
A research group, a department hosting visiting scholars or an institute with rotating fellows can book several studios under one contract with one contact person. Tell us how many places you need and for which dates.

Frequently asked questions
Can my university or institute sign the contract and pay?
Several studios can be booked under one contract with one contact person. Who signs and how payment works is agreed individually – write to us with the number of places and the dates.
Do I need proof of study or proof of work?
Either one. Fourteen days before move-in you upload proof of study or work, together with liability insurance.
Can you provide a visa letter for a research stay?
Yes. Once you have signed the lease, we issue a free official confirmation of accommodation in Czech and English within five working days. Please note that a refused visa is not a reason for a refund – the €200 reservation is kept.
