Student housing near MFF UK Troja – same district, no crossing the city
Rezidence Kandertova offers student housing near MFF UK Troja without crossing the city: it is in Prague 8 – Libeň, the same district as the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics campus at V Holešovičkách 2, about 20–25 minutes away by tram and bus or an estimated 8–12 minutes by bike. Student housing near MFF UK Troja: the commute to V Holešovičkách
Kandertova sits on the Libeň side of Prague 8, so the trip to V Holešovičkách stays inside the district: five minutes on foot to the U Kříže stop, tram 3 or 24 one or two stops to Bulovka or Okrouhlická, bus 201 or 145 to Kuchyňka and about six minutes uphill to the campus. On a normal weekday that is about 20–25 minutes door to door.
Trams 3 and 24 together left U Kříže roughly every four minutes in the morning timetable we checked. Cycling is estimated at about 8–12 minutes, with a climb at the end. Timetables change, so treat all times as approximate.
Living on the Libeň side: park, river and Holešovice next door
Pod Korábem park starts 50 metres from the door. Through the park you reach the Vltava embankment in about seven minutes, and the Koráb sports centre is about eight minutes away – so a run by the river after a day of problem sets fits into an ordinary evening.
Holešovice is close without going through the centre: Nádraží Holešovice is about 19–22 minutes by public transport and Výstaviště about 23–26 minutes. For metro line B and everyday shopping, Palmovka is 11 minutes by tram or five minutes by bike.

Twin or single: first-years vs master's students
Every studio has its own kitchenette and bathroom; the only question is whether you share the room. In a twin studio you live with a friend or a flatmate we match you with – same gender by default, similar age and, where possible, a similar programme. For first-years on a budget it is the sensible start.
A single studio suits master's students writing a thesis, running simulations overnight or simply needing silence. Both come with a bed and mattress, a desk and chair for each resident, built-in wardrobes and a fitted kitchen, and all bills including fibre internet up to 2 Gb/s.

Coming to Troja from abroad for a master's or PhD
If you are moving to Prague for a master's or doctoral programme at MFF, you can book completely online without a viewing. Once you have signed the lease, we issue a free confirmation of accommodation for your visa in Czech and English within 5 working days, and at handover we register you with the foreign police. The contract is in euro. Please note that a refused visa or admission is not a reason for a refund – the €200 reservation is kept. The Libeň–Troja–Karlín triangle
Matfyz teaching is spread over several buildings, and many students alternate between Troja and Karlín in the same week. From Kandertova, Sokolovská 83 in Karlín is about 15–17 minutes by tram 3 or 24 straight to Křižíkova, and Troja about 20–25 minutes. Living at the third corner of the triangle means neither campus is a long trip. Maniny park on the Karlín side is about a 22-minute walk from the house.
