Getting to náměstí Jana Palacha
Walk five minutes to U Kříže and take tram 3 or 24 to Bílá labuť, where bus 207 continues to Staroměstská – two minutes from the faculty door. Prefer the metro? Ride the tram to Palmovka or Invalidovna, then metro B to Můstek and metro A one stop to Staroměstská. Either way it is about 30–35 minutes door to door. By bike, roughly 20–25 minutes (an estimate).
A room for reading: student housing near Charles University Faculty of Arts
Literature, history, philosophy and languages mean hours of reading and a long written thesis at the end. That works best in a room you control. Every resident has a desk and chair of their own, and the windows are insulating triple glazing with 39 dB sound insulation. External aluminium blinds shade the studio and lower the noise from the street, so an afternoon of close reading stays an afternoon of close reading.
If you need silence for a thesis semester, a single studio (€980 a month, currently on the 5th floor) gives you 20 m² to yourself: hall, private bathroom and a 12.8 m² living room with kitchenette. Fibre internet up to 2 Gb/s makes online archives and library databases quick to reach.

The thinking walk: down to the Vltava
The house stands right by Pod Korábem park, two minutes from the door. When a paragraph will not come, walk down through the park to the Vltava embankment – about seven minutes – and keep going towards Maniny and Karlín, about 22 minutes on foot. Thomayerovy sady, a second park, is about 13 minutes away. Ideas often arrive somewhere between the desk and the river.
A twin studio on a humanities budget
A place in a twin studio costs €570 a month, with water, heating, electricity, waste and internet included and no year-end settlement. You share the studio's kitchen and bathroom with one flatmate, not with a corridor, and each of you has your own bed, desk and chair. Bring a friend from your seminar group, or ask us to match you – same gender by default, similar age and where possible a similar programme. You meet before you sign.
Studying languages or area studies from abroad
Coming from abroad for a semester or a full degree? Our team speaks English and Czech, so you can write to us in either. Once you have signed the lease, we issue a free accommodation letter for your visa in both languages within 5 working days, and at handover we register you with the foreign police. Please note that a refused visa or admission is not a reason for a refund – the €200 reservation is kept.

Yes. Contracts start at 6 months on the 1st or 15th of a month, you choose 6–12 months when applying, and a contract can be extended.

A lounge and a workspace of 20 m² each are in preparation, alongside a yoga studio and a PlayStation area. From day one, your own desk in the studio is your study space.
