Registering your residence with the foreign police in Prague: we do it on move-in day
At Rezidence Kandertova in Prague 8 – Libeň, registering your residence with the foreign police in Prague is part of moving in: when we hand over your studio, we register you, so there is nothing for you to arrange and no fee from us. For the legal rules that apply to your nationality and type of stay, rely on the official information of the Czech Ministry of the Interior and the Foreign Police.
Registering your residence with the foreign police in Prague: who does what
Many newcomers expect to spend part of their first week queuing at an office. For the registration linked to your accommodation at Kandertova 1131/1a, 180 00 Praha 8 – Libeň, that is our job: it is a fixed step of our process, done when you get your keys.
We do not give legal advice. Deadlines, forms and any further obligations under Czech immigration rules depend on your citizenship and on your visa or permit, and they can change. Check what applies to you on the official pages of the Ministry of the Interior and the Foreign Police.
What happens on move-in day
Move-in is tentatively from 1 December 2026; the exact opening is confirmed in writing after the occupancy permit. On your own move-in date, the day runs like this:
- You arrive in the slot you booked – Monday to Saturday, flatmates in a twin studio can come together
- We walk through the studio with you and sign a short handover protocol with the meter readings
- You get your keys; the lift takes your suitcases up and the storage room has lockable boxes for them later
- We register you with the foreign police – nothing for you to arrange

Documents you will already have from booking
By move-in day the paperwork from your booking is complete, because it is collected step by step and online:
- the lease signed by both sides, sent to you by e-mail once you have signed it online
- the free confirmation of accommodation in Czech and English, if you needed it for your visa
- proof of study or work, uploaded 14 days before move-in
- your liability insurance, uploaded at the same time
EU and non-EU residents: the rules differ
Czech rules are not the same for EU citizens and for people from other countries with a long-stay visa or residence permit. Our part does not change: we register you when you move in. Whether your status brings extra steps – for example in connection with your visa or residence permit – is something to confirm with official sources, not with a landlord.
One practical point is settled: the units are registered as accommodation units, which makes no practical difference for you. Temporary or permanent residence can be registered at the address just as in any flat.
After registration: everyday life and changes
Once you are registered, everything else runs through the online resident zone: your contract, payments and requests. Rent is due on the 1st of each month by bank transfer with your variable symbol, and every bill is already included.
Plans change – a longer stay, a new job, an earlier departure. Contracts can be extended; if you are moving out or your situation changes, tell us early and we will explain what happens on our side. The deposit is refunded within 30 days after you move out.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to go to the foreign police myself?
Not for the registration connected with your accommodation – we do that when you move in. Any other steps linked to your visa or residence permit are between you and the authorities, so check the official sources for what applies to you.
Does the registration cost anything?
Nothing from us. Rezidence Kandertova charges no admin, service or commission fees – the registration is simply part of move-in.
What if I move out or change address?
Ask us – through the resident zone or by phone – and we will explain our side. For your own obligations when you change address, check the official information of the Ministry of the Interior.
Can my employer or my parents arrange this for me?
There is nothing for them to arrange for this registration. Companies housing several people can rent several studios under one contract with one contact person.
Move in, and leave the registration to us
Apply in about three minutes – free of charge. On move-in day you get your keys, and the foreign police registration is our job.
